The Communication Workers Union is appalled by details in a Royal Mail document which expose that the company wants to sideline the union.
It details the aim of forcing through change with or without the agreement of the Union and states that it has full support of 'the shareholder'. Billy Hayes, CWU general secretary, called the document "a cynical attempt to derecognise the union". Billy went on to raise concerns about the role of the government, after Lord Mandelson appeared to show knowledge and familiarity with the document and ruled out the use of ACAS in an interview on Channel 4 News on Thursday evening.
CWU remains available for talks to resolve the current dispute and reach an agreement which leads to strike action no longer being taken. You can watch Billy Hayes on the BBC discussing this story: see the Royal Mail National dispute pages of this website. |
