Shadow Secretary Of State For Work And Pensions Addresses
CWU Retired Members Conference
Brexit is a threat to Pensioners as much as it is for poorer sections of society, and the middle classess too will not escape the negative policies of this government.
That was the message received by delegates attending the CWU Retired Members Conference 2017 held in Manchester last week.
Debbie Abrahams MP for Oldham East & Saddleworth, and Labour's Shadow Secretary for Work and Pensions; outlined a grim future for this country's pensioners as a result of the direction Theresa May will be taking the UK in the Brexit negotiations with her policy of leaving both the customs Union and the Single Market.
Labour's policies seek to change this country into one that is fairer to all and not just the rich and not just for business. But her speech concentrated on Pensions and reitereated that a future Labour Government would maintain the so-called 'Triple Lock' on the state pension and on pensioner's benefits.
