CWU North West Region Conference 2018

Manchester 16th February

The CWU North West Region Conference 2018 was held, as in previous years, at the Mechanics Institute in Manchester.

"This was the best attended regional conference since we started them in 2016 with over 100 people attending the event with 95 delegates.", said Carl Webb Regional Secretary in an email to all North West CWU branches.

The Conference documentation along with information from the stalls of Unionline, CWUHA, Pellacraft, and 1st Class Credit Union was given out as delegates signed into the Conference; and is still available for you to download as part of the reports on the Conference.

The Conference was opened by the North West Regional Chairperson, Dan Lewis with opening remarks from the Regional Secretary, Carl Webb; followed by a superb video produced by Dan highlighting the various campaigns that North West CWU Branch members and Officers were involved with in the last 12 months:

Next came the regional sub-committee AGMs, : Equality, H&S, Education & Learning, Political, Retired, Women's and Young Workers as delegates made their way to the various rooms allocated.

The matter of the Regional Committee AGM quickly followed as delegates re-assembled in the main conference room.

The first item was a short ceremony to honour the many years of dedicated work on behalf of the CWU by three regional members who have spent all of their working lives as trade unionists and Branch Officers: Billy Butterworth, Paul Pritchard and John Simpson.
