We are totally revamping the CWU members magazine, The Voice. These changes will include a move to a more features based publication with pages for members views and some great wider content. We’ll also run competitions and have a little bit of fun. We are delighted to announce for the next issue in September we have ceased using a plastic postage wrapping and we’ve moved to a 100% compostable wrapping. Finally, we’ve designed a great new cover and we want YOU to be the stars. We want reps and members to send us selfies of you at work or in uniform and we’ll use them in a giant montage. Whatsapp your photos to 07907502190 Please share this post so we get as many photos as possible.

KELLY MARY FAUVRELLE – APPEAL FUND Further to LTB 425/19, which explained we would be setting up an Appeal Fund to provide a lasting memorial for Kelly and her son and to support the family and organisations campaigning against knife crime. It has become clear that in addition to the online ‘Just Giving’ page, which is going very well, a number of workplaces have held bucket collections. Therefore, in conjunction with the Croydon & Sutton branch, we have agreed to set up a separate CWU Fund for the Appeal which will allow branches to transfer workplace collections once they have been deposited into their accounts. The details of the Account for the Fund are as follows: Name of Account: CWU General Fund Account Number: 33019822 Sort Code: 60-83-01 Please can all branches ensure that when transferring money that the reference used for any payments is shown as ‘Kelly Mary Fauvrelle fund’. Additionally, if Branches are sending in cheques please make sure that the above reference (‘Kelly Mary Fauvrelle fund’) is written on the back of the cheque. We have also received requests from a number of members for a national workplace bucket collection day and we can confirm that this will take place on Tuesday 23rd July 2019. We would be grateful if branches who have not already done so,consider participating in CWU workplaces across the UK. Finally, we would like to place on record our thanks to CWU members and the public for their outpouring of support following these tragic events. Our Croydon branch is in contact with the family and we know your thoughts and support is really appreciated by the family and our members in the Croydon office. We will keep you informed of progress with the Appeal Fund in due course. Any enquiries on the above LTB should be addressed to gsoffice@cwu.org Yours sincerely Dave Ward General Secretary

CWU ELECTIONS EXTENDED UNTIL 29th July NEC, Industrial Executives and Regional Secretary Elections 2019 – Change of Closing Date of Ballot Since the publication of LTB 428/19, dated 9th July 2019, which provided the detailed explanation from ERS as to why there has been a delay in the arrival of ballot papers for the above National and Regional elections; we have continued to monitor the situation and have held daily discussions with ERS to receive further progress reports. Additionally, during this period we have been consulting with a number of branches and regions to ascertain the latest position in their areas. During our enquiries it has become clear that there are certain areas of the UK who are still experiencing problems with the arrival of ballot papers. We have updated ERS on this matter and they have assured us that all of the ballot papers are now in the postal system. Whilst we understand this may be the case, we have made further representations to ERS to secure an extension of the closing date from 24th July 2019 to 29th July 2019 to allow those members affected by the delay to have a greater opportunity to cast their votes. I can report that due to the position we find ourselves in as a result of the actions of ERS, they have agreed to the extension and therefore the closing date will now be 29th July 2019 (first post). CWU HQ will be publishing the extension by all means possible including across all our social media platforms and we seek the assistance of branches to take every possible measure to publicise the revised closing date to their members. We believe that this should include using localised social media, the distribution of this LTB to workplaces/Members and where practical holding workplace meetings. Yours sincerely, Tony Kearns Senior Deputy General Secretary
